What do I need to prepare for a Notarization?

What type of ID should I bring?
Any of the following are acceptable:

Passport

Driver’s License

State ID

Two witnesses with IDs

Both the notary and the signer must know and trust the credible witness

The witness does not have a special financial interest in the process and document

Common misunderstandings:

A notary cannot fill in the document, except for the wording on the notarial certificate

A notary cannot advise you on the legal implications of a document

A notary is not allowed to select for you the kind of notarization you require
